I am Bindi Saikia. I see myself as a kind-hearted person, who loves to cook for people and finds solace in wandering around big cities. A native of the picturesque North Eastern part of India, I spent most of my childhood days away from home, at a boarding school. Although it was difficult to stay away from family that young, I am beyond grateful to have experienced the life-long cherishable moments. My life in boarding school instilled in me the characteristics of being independent, organized, and accountable at a very young age, which I still continue to uphold, both in my professional and personal life. 

 

After school, I moved to New Delhi - India's capital city, to pursue higher education and make a place for myself in the fast-paced work environment. At that point, New Delhi became my home away from home, where I completed my undergraduate and masters in Sociology, and landed my first job with a global PR firm. This is when I found my place, my niche and my passion. During my five years of work experience, I have developed multiple communication strategies for clients across different industry sectors to increase their audience engagement and overall brand visibility. Needless to say, I fell in love with everything in PR, as it encouraged me to multi-task, express my creativity and thrive in a challenging environment. 

 

I have a strong work ethic, and believe in continuous learning to evolve with time. With a zeal to further my potential and leverage myself in a completely new market, I decided to return to school in Fall 2015, in pursuit of my Master’s degree in Communication and Media from Rutgers University, New Jersey. These two years have been incredibly rewarding and I have learnt a great deal from an outstanding faculty and diverse pool of students. Upon graduating in May 2017, I look forward to incorporating learnings from the classroom and my previous experiences, to my next move in the PR world (fingers crossed!). I am confident that I will strive to do better every day and achieve my long-term goal of overseeing and navigating communication efforts of a global brand for more than one market.
